Yellow snow warning
The Met office have issued a Yellow snow warning from 00.00 Wednesday, 8 March 2023 until 23:59 on Wednesday, 8 March 2023.
A period of snow is likely to cause some travel disruption during Wednesday.
What to expect:
- There is a small chance of travel delays on roads with some stranded vehicles and passengers, along with delayed or cancelled rail and air travel
- There is a slight chance that some rural communities could become cut off
- There is a small chance that power cuts will occur and other services, such as mobile phone coverage, may be affected
- A small chance of injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces
- There is a slight chance that bus and train services may be delayed or cancelled, with some road closures and longer journey time

Update 19/01/23 – Wernddu Recycling Centre is still closed due to conditions on site.
Due to conditions at the site, Wernddu Recycling Centre is currently closed. We will review the situation throughout the day and provide an update on this post when it has re-opened.

Icy conditions and sleet and snow
We have snow and icy roads in many parts of the county, making driving conditions difficult. We will continue to monitor the weather forecast and respond accordingly. Please take care on the roads and be mindful of changing conditions.
All refuse/recycling crews are out today; however, some areas in the North East are problematic due to the icy conditions. Please leave your waste our and we will be around to collect when road conditions allow.

Clean-up operation underway following Storm Eunice
A massive clean-up and recovery operation is underway to deal with the aftermath of Storm Eunice which battered Carmarthenshire.
Council highways crews have had an extremely busy few days as extreme winds brought down trees, branches, roof tiles and electricity cables on Friday and throughout the weekend. To date, they have received 295 weather-related highway reports, and this figure continues to rise.
The council’s property teams dealt with over 300 calls, mainly from housing tenants, reporting damage to their homes, such as loose roof tiles, or fences blown down, as well as from some schools including Llandeilo and Pencader, as well as weather-related issues reported at Richmond Park, Bryngwyn and Ffwrnes.

Our crews are catching up with missed bin collections from Friday/Saturday, however, this will take a few days.

Clean up operation
The clean-up operation following Storm Eunice continues and will take some time due to bad weather conditions.
Unfortunately, we have some more windy weather on the way with a yellow warning for win in place from tomorrow 12pm until Monday afternoon.

Parks update
Pembrey Country Park will re-open at 1pm today. Visitors are strongly advised to stay out of the woodlands (in case of unstable trees) and off the sand dunes (the dune system is unstable following the high tide and storm). Car parks 1, 2 & 3 are closed, please use the main beach entrance to access the beach. The Ski & Activity Centre and Yr Orsaf will remain closed all day.
Llyn Llech Owain Country Park is also re-opening at 1pm today. Please use the main entrance only. Please be careful and keep out of the woodlands.
Mynydd Mawr Woodland Park and Parc Howard remain closed.

Bin collections
We have been unable to collect the bins in the following rural areas of Llandeilo today due to challenging weather conditions:
- Capel Isaac
- Cwmdu
- Cwmifor
- Manordeilo
- Penybanc
- Salem
- Taliaris
- Talley
We have also been unable to collect in some hard to access lanes in the Cwmamman area and:
- Cenarth, Newcastle Emlyn
- Capel Iwan, Newcastle Emlyn
- Trelech, Whitland
- Brechfa
- Bronwydd
Bins in these areas will be collected on Monday instead. We advise you to take your waste back in and place out before 6am on Monday.

Leisure update
All our leisure centres, except Carmarthen, will re-open at 1pm today. Unfortunately, Carmarthen Leisure Centre will remain closed until further notice and until we are able to assess the roof damage. This includes the closure of the Carmarthen Riverside Walk.
Oriel Myrddin Gallery and Carmarthen Museum also remain closed.

Storm Eunice
Carmarthenshire County Council is urging residents to be prepared as Storm Eunice hits Wales in the early hours of tomorrow morning.
The Met Office has issued a red warning of wind which is likely to cause significant disruption across the country.
There is also a yellow warning for localised flooding on roads and coastal areas.
Carmarthenshire County Council’s operational team are on standby to deal with any eventuality and will respond to the changing weather conditions.
People are being urged to check the Met Office and Natural Resources Wales websites for weather updates or call the Floodline 0345 988 1188 if you are concerned about flooding.

Storm Barra – yellow wind warning
Storm Barra is set to bring some strong winds on Tuesday.
The Met Office has issued a yellow warning of wind for western parts of Carmarthenshire. Please take extra care in case of fallen branches and debris on the roads.
A combination of high tides, strong winds and large waves could lead to minor coastal flooding along the Carmarthenshire coast between Pendine and Hendy. Be careful on beaches, promenades and coastal footpaths.

Storm Arwen – warning of wind
Storm Arwen is set to bring some strong northerly winds to Wales from Friday afternoon through to Saturday evening.
The Met Office has issued a yellow warning of wind – this warning has been upgraded to amber for western parts of Carmarthenshire from midnight to 9am Saturday morning.
