Thursday, September 21, is International Day of Peace.

Peace Day provides a globally shared date for all humanity to commit to Peace above all differences and to contribute to building a Culture of Peace.

The International Day of Peace Flag will be flown at County Hall, Carmarthen, Ammanford Town Hall and Llanelli Town Hall on this day.

September 18 – County Hall to be lit pink for Organ Donation Week

To support Organ Donation Week 2023, County Hall will be lit pink on the evening of Monday, September 18.

This year, Organ Donation Week will take place Monday 18 September to Sunday 24 September.

Organ Donation Week is a week-long campaign that takes place every year, with the aim of raising awareness about the ongoing need for organ donors.

September 7 – County Hall to be lit red in support of World Duchenne Awareness Day

County Hall will be lit red on Thursday, September 7, in support of World Duchenne Awareness Day.

The World Duchenne Awareness Day 2023 theme is ‘Duchenne: Breaking Barriers’. World Duchenne Awareness Day (WDAD) is an annual event held on September 7. With this, WDAD supports creating a society that provides equal opportunities for all.

People living with Duchenne and Becker muscular dystrophy (DMD/BMD) face physical, healthcare and social barriers. This severely limits their ability to participate fully in community life and activities.

County Hall to be lit blue in support of Leukodystrophy Awareness Month

County Hall will be lit blue on Friday, September 1, in support of Leukodystrophy Awareness Month.

Leukodystrophies are rare, genetic disorders affecting the white matter in the brain and spinal cord. Alex TLC is a charity that supports people affected by leukodystrophy and their families & carers. Blue is the official leukodystrophy awareness ribbon colour.

Baby Loss Awareness Week

This evening, we will be lighting County Hall Carmarthen in pink and blue in support of bereaved parents, their families and friends, who wish to commemorate the lives of babies who died during pregnancy, at or soon after birth, and in infancy.

The lights symbolise the council’s support of Baby Loss Awareness Week (October 9-15), and those who have experienced loss.
